Do we consistently operate under a blur of confusion? Have we realized that drastic changes are necessary for our family’s welfare? Should we incorporate more of something into our day? Can we remove any one thing from our schedules entirely?
Unfortunately, too many of us experience constant frustration, fatigue, overcrowded to-do lists, and restless nights. Let’s commit to getting our lives in order; a healthy dose of prioritization would do us good. If we prayerfully consult the Lord regarding our schedules and commit to putting Him first, we’ll see a positive change .
Below, I’ve included four key elements to godly routines. Using them as a start, we can begin to examine our schedules and discern where change is required.
- Quiet time with the Lord. In order to develop intimacy with Jesus we must study the Word, talk to God (pray) consistently, and seek answers. When we learn to be still and listen for God’s gentle voice, we often realize results in the form of peace, confirmation, discernment, or supernatural wisdom regarding our unique circumstances.
- Rest. The harder we push ourselves, the crankier we get. We’re also less likely to nurture our bodies. As a result, we often find it difficult to be a good ambassador for Christ. Let’s do what we can in our own natural (physical) strength. Then, allow the Lord to provide for everything else supernaturally.
- Good Stewardship. Have we ever wondered how others with similar lifestyles are able to get so much more done in a day? Let’s look for tiny things that can be omitted from or added to our lives. Remember, stewardship is not just about money. Are we using our time, talents, and treasures to honor God?
- Obedience. Are we hearers and doers of the word? Let’s prayerfully examine ourselves, asking the Holy Spirit to bring to light any unrepented sin. Have we been using the world as our measuring stick instead of God’s Word?
